Paros

About Paros

Paros will enchant you with the very first glance! All-white houses, picturesque alleys, hospitable people and countless golden shores characterize Paros, the fourth largest island of the Cyclades! Paros manages to combine in its own unique way, yesterday with today and peace and liveliness.

Paros capital is Parikia, located on the west coast. In its traditional alleys, but also in the main coastal road, all the options for food and entertainment are gathered, while with a walk you will have the opportunity to enjoy the Cycladic beauty and the hospitality of its inhabitants. In Parikia you can enjoy one of the most beautiful sunsets, with the sun gradually setting, “joining” with the sea and disappearing behind it…

In Parikia you will see the church of Panagia Ekatontapyliani, one of the best-preserved Paleo-Christian monuments in Greece. Also, characteristic attraction is the Frankish Castle, built on the hill above the port. The Castle has impressive, panoramic view and It consists of clusters of ancient temples, while the purpose of its creation was to protect the island from pirate attacks.

The second largest city is Naoussa, one of the most picturesque fishing villages in the Aegean, which has evolved from a fishermen’s residence to a cosmopolitan resort! The old fishermen’s warehouses have been turned into nearby hangouts for food, drink and entertainment. Its all-white Cycladic alleys, adorned with the flowery purple bougainvilleas, charm the visitor!

Just 4 kilometres southwest of Parikia is the Valley of the Butterflies. It is a green habitat with a small spring, covered by dense vegetation. In this “earthly paradise”, thousands of butterflies cover the trunks of trees! Butterflies apear in this area in June and disappear in August.

Beaches

Kolimbithres

In the northwest of Paros we find the beach Kolimbithres. It is perhaps the most “special” and “peculiar” beach of Paros. This is not a single beach, but many small sandy beaches hidden among huge vertical rocks. The beach is sandy with cool blue shallow and crystal clear waters. From the beach you have a view of the island of Agia Kali with the church of Ascension, which you can visit. In the surrounding area there are cafes and beautiful taverns to taste local delicacies and fresh fish. There is also a water ski and surfing school.

Santa Maria Beach

Santa Maria is an exotic beach and one of the best in Paros. It is located on the northeast side of the island, just opposite Naxos.
Santa Maria has a natural landscape that can be described as an earthly paradise. The coastline forms in many places small creeks for isolation, providing natural shade under the tamarisk trees. The crystal clear sand and the cool sea water form an ideal landscape for relaxation. Its beautiful seabed challenges you to explore it by taking a long dive in the blue waters. Most of the beach is organized with umbrellas and sunbeds. Along the beach you will find many bars with music and taverns where you can enjoy a seafood dish or a simple snack. You can also test your adrenaline in water sports such as wind-surfing, diving, jet-skiing or set up a beach-volleyball game with your friends.

If you dream of a vacation that can combine all of the above, then Paros is your island! Let yourself be seduced by a patchwork of delicious images, aromas and flavors and experience it with all your senses!
